WHAT:  Quad City Arts Art @ the Airport Exhibition

WHEN:  March 2-April 30, 2018

WHERE: Quad City International Airport Gallery, 2200 69th Ave., Moline, IL

WHO: Tilly Woodward of Grinnell, IA; David Zahn, Moline, IL; Cindy Lesperance, Lakemoor, IL; Carol Hamilton, Harvard, IL and Brad Hook, Chicago.

Quad City Arts Art @ the Airport presents paintings by Tilly Woodward, sculpture by David Zahn and encaustic works by Cindy Lesperance, Carol Hamilton and Brad Hook for the months of March and April 2018.

David Zahn makes contemporary figurative based sculptures in ceramic and bronze.  His newest work shows human figures and faces in thought-provoking interesting compositions.

Tilly Woodward’s oil paintings are so detailed; they’re often mistaken for photographs.  She provides intimate glimpses at man-made and natural objects.  Her paintings are symbolic to her life representing family, loved ones, history, and people she would like to honor.

Three artists from the Chicago region work primarily with encaustic as a medium for creating works that are based on thoughts about each artist’s journey. Cindy Lesperance, Brad Hook and Carol Hamilton all feel that location, whether real or imagined, is central to their work. The plasticity and luminosity of encaustic informs their choices; layers are applied and removed through a process of creation and destruction that build the varied surfaces that reflect the beauty of imperfections and richness of wear and life.

This exhibit is rich in texture, detail and subtleties that require more than a quick glance. Whether waiting for a passenger to arrive or intentionally visiting the gallery, viewers should take the time to relax and savor this artwork.

Art @ the Airport in The Quad City International airport gallery is easy to find-just across from the gift shop and restaurant and before the security check-point. It never closes, and you’ll pay just a dollar for parking.
