ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (August 15, 2019) — On exhibit from August 23 through October 11, 2019, will be mixed media works by Lisa Mahar of Rock Island, Illinois, and paintings by Jessica Bingham of Peoria, Illinois.
Whether painting on canvas, furniture, or assembling collages, Mahar uses bright colors to tell stories. She uses symbology and words in her art to send messages of empowerment to women. Uplifting, spiritual, and happy are other adjectives that best describe her work.
Jessica Bingham presents “The Neighborhood Within.” Bingham uses acrylic paint, ink, and graphite on unstretched, raw, and misshapen canvas to express her feelings about love, loss, and childhood memories. Bingham is "interested in moments that reveal the harsh reality of the human condition, and the ways in which we mask pain."
Both artists create deeply-personal work that reflect experiences to which everyone can relate.
The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy complimentary food and beverages from 7-9PM on August 23 at Quad City Arts in Rock Island.
