ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (December 4, 2020) — Quad City Arts’ plan to help regional artists stay motivated by creating artwork throughout the Quarantine, which began in March 2020, will continue into 2021 with the culminating exhibition of chosen works postponed to October 2021. The plan is to share the artwork with the public when we can safely gather socially. As the pandemic wears on, it is more important than ever for people to express themselves creatively. “Art is the achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos.” (Saul Bellow

Reception to be announced

The “Quarantine Art Exhibition” was originally scheduled to open in February. As social-distancing guidelines are still in place, Quad City Arts has chosen to postpone the exhibition to a time where an opening reception could be held. We want to come together as a community of artists to celebrate those that used this time to create art. Unfortunately, now is not that time, but fortunately, that time seems to be on the horizon.

Quad City Arts is a non-profit local-arts agency dedicated to enriching the quality of life in the Quad-City region through the arts. Support for art exhibitions is provided by the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Quad City Arts Gallery is located at 1715 Second Avenue in the Arts and Entertainment District of Rock Island. Non-pandemic gallery hours are Monday-Friday 10AM-5PM, and Saturday, 11AM–5PM. Call first to see if we are open. For more information, contact Dawn Wohlford-Metallo 309-793-1213 X108, or by email at dwmetallo@quadcityarts.com.
