DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 10, 2020) — The Quad City Engineering and Science Council (QCESC) would like to welcome STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Professionals, students of all ages, educators, and the general public to join us at the 58th Annual QCESC STEM Celebration, February 20, 5-8:30 PM, at the Putnam Museum and Science Center in Davenport. The Celebration takes place during National Engineer's Week, 16-22 February 2020.
Our Keynote Speaker is Camille Sloan Schroeder, Iowa State University College Of Engineering Community Outreach Programs Manager and Director of Iowa FIRST LEGO League and FIRST LEGO League Junior. Schroeder's keynote title, "Staying Inspired in STEM", will focus on sharing STEM references and people in history that stayed inspired and made a difference in STEM.
Our Schedule of Events includes:
- Networking Social with hors d'oeuvres and displays from several STEM organizations and schools.
- Presentation of Awards to local STEM professionals and educators including: Junior & Senior Engineer, Senior Scientist, STEM Teacher, and STEM Volunteer of the Year, along with Lifetime Achievement and Technical Society of the Year.
- Presentation of STEM Scholarships totally $23,000 to 13 Iowa and Illinois High School Students from 10 different schools from 7 counties going into STEM-related fields.
- Order of the Engineer Link and Node of the Computing Professional Inductee Announcements
- Our Keynote Speaker, Ms Schroeder.
