MOLINE, ILLINOIS (February 28, 2023) — Renew Moline will host a visit from the members of Urban Land Institute on Wednesday, March 1, and Thursday, March 2, 2023. In 2021, Renew Moline — in partnership with the City of Moline, MetroLINK, and the John Deere Foundation — contracted with ULI to conduct an Advisory Panel, bringing together experts from around the country to discuss future of the I-74 bridge redevelopment area. The Urban Land Institute’s Final Report was published in July 2021.
Since that time, Renew Moline and the City have conducted public meetings and outreach to seek input on the ideas contained in the Report. The Moline City Council endorsed the concepts in January 2022 and the City and Renew Moline have made progress on these ideas, including a proposed skate park and pump track and the acquisition of the Bridgepointe property by the City.
Visiting Renew Moline will be former three-term Mayor of Pittsburgh and ULI Senior Fellow Tom Murphy, ULI Vice President for Advisory Services Tom Eitler, and housing developer Rick Dishnica of The Dishnica Company, Chairman of the 2021 Advisory Panel. The group will tour the I-74 redevelopment area, meet with the Renew Moline Board of Directors, and hold work sessions with City and Renew Moline staff on topics relevant to downtown Moline.
Renew Moline will offer the media time for discussion with ULI and Renew Moline representatives at 1:30PM, Wednesday, March 1, at Renew Moline (located at 1506 River Drive, Moline, Illinois 61265).
