DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 16, 2023) — We are excited to announce that Morris Day and the Time will perform in the Event Center on Friday, September 22, 8 PM. Tickets will be available online at rhythmcitycasino.com or at The Market at Rhythm City for $35, $45, $55, $60, and $65 plus applicable online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is waived when tickets are purchased at The Market Gift Shop inside Rhythm City Casino Resort). A presale will occur on Thursday, May 18 at 10 AM, after which tickets will be available for purchase on Friday, May 19, 10AM.

A Mega-Ego sized “M” monogrammed on every flashy jacket, and his cocky gimmickry earned talented vocalist Morris Day glaring spotlight in front of a gang of musical side-kicks dubbed The Time. Morris Day and his quirky accompanists have carved out a sizable cult following over the past four decades as purveyors of catchy, contagious, multilayered funk.

Under Morris’ whimsical creative license, the bunch quickly landed a recording contract with Warner Brothers Records and cut their smash début album The Time; where jovial Morris showcased his worth as more than just an animated musician, also directing the album’s production and performance output. Soon after the world was introduced to the prolific Minneapolis music marvel, the group went on to record three more albums, including What Time Is It? (featuring the hits “777-9311,” “Wild and Loose,” “Walk,” and “Gigolos Get Lonely Too”) and Ice Cream Castle (which included the hit “Jungle Love”).

The famed funksters deliver an “in the flesh” flava that keeps generations of fans flapping their limbs to “The Birdand groovin’ to “Girl”. Playing to audiences that cross all racial, age, and gender groups, Morris swoons the masses with his “it’s just me and the boys” style. The comic music-monger still motivates hysterical laughter when he goes through gyrations with colleague Jerome; antics that nobody gets away with except Morris E Day. Rending an accepted form of arrogance, Morris’ slick on-stage moves have ranked momentum not witnessed since the legendary Beatles regrouped — that is to say, never before witnessed.
