Ray Henderson drives in three runs in penultimate regular season game
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Quad Cities River Bandits longest losing streak of the season furthered to six after a 6-4 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Sunday in front of 3,903 fans afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park. Ray Henderson had a pair of hits and drove in three runs in the loss. A two-run double in the ninth inning from Mitch Ghelfi broke a 4-4 tie to down the Bandits.
The Bandits (41-28, 78-59) committed three errors in the game, including one in the first inning to allow Wisconsin (33-36, 59-78) an unearned run to open the scoring when Ghelfi launched a sacrifice fly to get the Rattlers on the board. Two more Rattlers runs scored in the fifth when Trever Morrison singled home a run then an error with two outs allowed Dallas Carroll to score.
The Bandits first 13 hitters were retired before they finally broke through in the fifth. Bryan De La Cruz doubled then, after a walk, Henderson doubled home both runners to get Quad Cities within one. Carroll homered to lead off the seventh before Kristian Trompiz drove in a run on a ground out then Henderson tied the game with a single in the home half of the inning.
Salvador Montano (8-4) allowed the tie-breaking double in the ninth to suffer the loss. Chase Williams pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth to earn the win, stranding a base runner in the ninth inning. Lucas Williams was effective in relief for Quad Cities, allowing one run on two hits in three innings after Patrick Sandoval went five frames in his start and allowed three runs, one earned, on five hits and a walk.
