ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (January 29, 2019) — By now, you've probably gotten the message that just about the entire Quad Cities is planning to stay at home Wednesday and avoid the punishing wind-chills predicted for our area.

Your Rock Island Library is no different. We will close at 5:00PM Tuesday, January 29, and remain closed on Wednesday, January 30. Assuming the weather cooperates, we plan to reopen Thursday at normal times (9AM Downtown and Southwest, noon at 30/31.) Updates will be posted to our Rock Island Public Library Facebook page.

Evening events for Wednesday and Thursday have been cancelled. We do have a Petite Picassos event on Friday, February 1 at 10:30AM, Downtown Library. If you want to call before you bring the little ones out, the Children's Room number is 309-732-7360.

For more interesting things to do at your library this winter, pick up a print newsletter, and visit our online event calendar, Events with a red bar are designed for children; green for teens, blue for adults, and gold is for everyone.

"We're the River Cities' Reader, and we've kept the Quad Cities' only independently owned newspaper alive and free since 1993.

So please help the Reader keep going with your one-time, monthly, or annual support. With your financial support the Reader can continue providing uncensored, non-scripted, and independent journalism alongside the Quad Cities' area's most comprehensive cultural coverage." - Todd McGreevy, Publisher
