Each year, the golf outing is organized in order to assist worthy organizations in surrounding Quad Cities communities. This year, Habitat for Humanity of the Quad Cities (HFHQC) was selected to receive the $15,000 donation that was raised by Russell employees, volunteers, sponsors, raffle contributors and golfers from the event.
"Our event has become so successful thanks to the efforts of everyone involved. It's an event that we look forward to every year," noted Jim Russell, President.
"Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities extends our heartfelt thanks to Russell Construction for raising $15,000 to help us further our mission. We will be using these funds to help build a house at 322 8th Street in Davenport that we will be breaking ground on September 18, 2010. Russell Construction believes in giving back to the community and we can't thank them enough for their continuing support," added Kristi Crafton, Executive Director of HFHQC.
Participants to the golf outing were also invited to sign two separate 2 x 4 wooden beams, which we will used in the building of the home on 8th Street in Davenport. For more information on Habitat for Humanity of the Quad Cities, please visit their website at www.habitatqc.org.
In previous years, donations from Russell's annual charity golf outing have been made to Community Care, Inc. in DeWitt, Iowa ($24,000), American Cancer Society ($47,775) and Scott County Family Y ($20,000). Over the last ten years more than $197,000 has been donated to charitable organizations in the Quad Cities area through the Russell golf outing.
