Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP has released an audit report on Scott County, Iowa. The County had local tax revenue of $265,610,396 for the year ended June 30, 2016, which included $23,169,606 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $242,440,790 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.
The County retained $45,927,514 of the local tax revenue to finance County operations, a 1.8 percent decrease from the prior year. Other revenues included charges for service of $7,774,429, operating grants and contributions of $4,687,936, capital grants and contributions of $465,967, local option sales tax of $4,390,854, state tax replacement credits of $3,848,505, state shared revenues of $4,085,495, unrestricted investment earnings of $123,260 and other general revenues of $4,118,379.
Expenses for County operations totaled $75,837,990, a 7.6 percent increase from the prior year. Expenses included $22,496,478 for public safety and legal services, $8,609,386 for mental health, and $10,702,812 for administration.
