Rock Island, IL: Get your game on at the Rock Island Public Library with new monthly activities for families and adults.
Board Game Night is Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street. The library has a collection of new and classic games for people of all ages to play, including King of Tokyo, Pandemic, Codenames, Carcassone, Ticket to Ride and Dominion. All ages are welcome. Games will be available on reading tables on the first floor. The free event repeats on the first Tuesday of each month.
Rock Island Library is now also offering a Retro Gamers Club on the second Thursday of each month for adults. The introduction to retro video gaming, which are games from the 1980s and 1990s, is Sept. 14, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in the Downtown Library's second-floor Community Room. Participants can learn about and play games, and find sources for games, consoles and accessories. Participants can also pick up coupons from Video Games ETC, which is working with the library on the events.
The family and adult events join already established gaming events for tweens and teens. The library's next Tween and Teen Gaming Night is Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Downtown Library. The event features video, board, and Pokémon Go gaming for ages 8 to 12 and 12 to 18.
