The artists of Bucktown will host a Holiday Wine Walk from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, December 15. Guests may purchase a hand-painted wine glass for $20, which entitles them to a tasting of unique wines and light snacks. The evening will include strolling carolers from the Black Hawk College Community Chorale. A special drawing will give attendees a chance to win a Quad Cities shop-local swag basket featuring items ranging from a hotel stay to a margarita kit.
A percentage of wine glass sales during the Wine Walk will support the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Greater Mississippi Valley. This 37-year old affiliate of the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization provides free education and support programs to individuals and families living with a mental health condition.
Local comedians Jessica Gordon and Joshua Kahn from Open Source Improv are also supporting a Shop for NAMI social media campaign that culminates in the Wine Walk. The campaign features videos on solving the oh-so predictable crises of finding the perfect holiday gift. Participating galleries and artists will donate a percentage of their sales from November 24 to December 15.
Bucktown is open from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
