MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (May 6, 2024) — Special Olympics Illinois will be hosting the annual Region F Spring Games in Monmouth this Saturday, May 4. Spring Games is an event for athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete in track and field events. Over the next month, each region will host Spring Games for their athletes to participate in.
This event serves as the qualifying event for the annual Summer Games held in Bloomington-Normal. Those who win gold will be invited to compete at Summer Games. Summer Games is held on June 7-9, 2024, on the Illinois State University campus.
Athletes will compete in the 50-, 100-, 200-, 400-, 800-walk races; standing and running long jumps; shot put; mini javelin, tennis and softball throw; 100-, 400- and 800-meter run races; wheelchair competitions and assisted races.
