BLUE GRASS, IOWA (October 22, 2019) — Students and instructors from Spring Forward’s Family Literacy Program will visit Majestic Manor Dairy Farm on Wednesday, October 23, 9:30-11AM. The students are adult English Learners, most of whom are new to our community. Many have practiced agriculture in some form in their native countries. Wednesday’s trip to Davis Peterson’s farm in Blue Grass will provide the students with an opportunity to tour a working dairy-farm, see the milking-process, and feed the baby calves.

The Family Literacy Program at Church of Peace in Rock Island is a partnership with Spring Forward and World Relief.  It operates Tuesday through Thursday, 9-11:30AM, September through May. The program focuses on helping immigrant and refugee families assimilate into the community by providing literacy education and other assistance.

The media is invited to attend the dairy farm tour for photographs and videos beginning at 10AM.
