With warmer weather upon us, we are excited to to share information on three very popular upcoming QCESC STEM opportunities for students and volunteers along with an invitation to our monthly meeting.
  • Our April QCESC Monthly Meeting HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO Wednesday, April 26th 6:00-7:00 P.M. at Hamilton Tech College, 1011 E. 53rd Street, Davenport, Iowa. Free and open to the public, societies and anyone interested in promoting STEM! 
  • April 21 - High School Trebuchet Egg Throw Competition  With a record 36 teams already registered, volunteers are still needed.   High school teams design & build trebuchets to launch raw eggs at targets at three  distances and present to a panel of judges.  The event is hosted at Bettendorf High School.  Further information including sign up to volunteer or register a team.  May 12 - High School Cardboard Boat Regatta Race - Teams from high schools will  design and construct boats made from cardboard. The objective is to race their boats and get the fastest time around the 600 yard course. A special race for STEM teachers, administrators and STEM professionals will also be held. Registration is now open for teams and for volunteers using the link below.  The event is hosted at Bettendorf Middle Park's Lagoon.   • July 24-28 - Engineering Kids One Day Camps - One day camps for students in  grades 2nd - 8th grade are again being offered a collaboration between the QCESC, the Putnam Museum and the Iowa State University College of Engineering who design and lead the camp.  Each one day camp will include three, fun educational hand-on activities including LEGO robotics with challenges for various student experience levels and will include big screen movie along with a camp t-shirt and lunch.  Last year, 417 students registered for the camp.  Registration is now open for students and volunteers (15 per day).  Funding is available for eligible students can't afford the registration fee.  Further Information & to Register
