DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 23, 2025) — Tapestry Farms invites the community to gather under the autumn sky for its first-ever Harvest Moon Celebration, an evening of music, poetry, and traditional Arabic sweets in support of refugees rebuilding their lives in the Quad Cities.
The event will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 7PM, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 121 W 12th Street, Davenport.
The hour-hour performance will feature lyric soprano Claire Kuttler with collaborative pianist Chris Nelson. They are talented professional musicians and supporters of Tapestry Farms’ mission to invest in the lives of refugees who have settled in the Quad Cities. Musical selections will include a variety of songs centered on the themes of the moon, harvest, and home like “Song to the Moon” by Antonín Dvořák, “Homeward Bound” by Paul Simon, “Simple Gifts” by Aaron Copland, and “Turn, Turn, Turn” by Pete Seeger.
“Tapestry Farms has a beautiful mission: Food, harvest, home. Music weaves in and out of all these aspects of life, crossing miles and cultures,” says Claire Kuttler.
“Offering what I can in the form of this concert to support this wonderful organization feels like mission and purpose to me as an artist. I can’t wait to share this music with you all and to collaborate with my wonderful friend, Chris Nelson, under the bright harvest moon.”
Highlights of the evening include:
● A performance by Claire Kuttler, lyric soprano and Davenport native now based in NYC and performing on national stages like the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall.
● The exceptional musical skills of Chris Nelson, organist and music director at St Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport and organ instructor at Augustana College.
● Poetry read by Tapestry Farms men and women inspired by themes of harvest, gratitude, and community
● Traditional Arabic desserts prepared by Tapestry Farms’ Fatima Hussein.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit Tapestry Farms in their work connecting refugees and neighbors in a shared hope of joyful, healthy lives — where every person has access to the resources they need to live well. Through farming, advocacy, and partnership, the eight-year-old organization creates opportunities for stability, belonging, and success.
“The Harvest Moon Celebration is a gathering of gratitude, culture, and connection,” said Ann McGlynn, founder and executive director of Tapestry Farms.
“Every ticket purchased directly supports families served by Tapestry Farms as they build new lives in our community.”
Tickets begin at $50. For more information about the Harvest Moon Celebration or to purchase tickets, visit: tapestryfarms.org/blog/celebrate-the-harvest-moon-with-tapestry-farms
About Tapestry Farms:
Tapestry Farms generously invests in the lives of refugees who resettle in the Quad Cities, focusing on:
● Access: We persistently work to eliminate barriers refugees experience to housing, education, medical and mental-health-care, work, food, transportation, community, and citizenship.
● Urban farm: We reclaim underutilized land in Quad City neighborhoods experiencing food insecurity, growing culturally-responsive food so that all in our community are abundantly fed.
● The future: Our greatest hope is that building trusted connections will create a Quad City-wide welcoming infrastructure — a vibrant and thriving community for every single person, including refugees.
