Rock Island, Ill., Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 - Award-winning string quartet in QCA residence March 5-10
The Tesla Quartet will be in residence during the first week of March, thanks to Quad City Arts’ Visiting Artist Series. The quartet recently took Second Prize as well as the Haydn Prize and Canadian Commission Prize at the 12th Banff International String Quartet Competition.
The quartet also won the Gold Medal at the 2012 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Third Prize in the 2012 London International String Quartet Competition.
The quartet performs regularly across North America, with recent international appearances in London, Vienna, Beijing, Shanghai, and Seoul. Through performance, teaching, and outreach, the Tesla Quartet strives to create meaningful connections with their audiences.
The Tesla Quartet will present at eight Quad City area schools for elementary and junior high students. They will perform as part of the Wesley United Methodist Church’s Jackson Concert Series at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, in Muscatine, Iowa. The quartet will also give informal performances for the public at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Frances Banta Waggoner Community Library, DeWitt, Iowa, and at 3 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Butterworth Center, Moline.
The quartet’s full-length public concert will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at First Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and are available at the door. Call 563-326-1691 for tickets.
The 2017-2018 season of the Visiting Artist Series runs through April 2018 and features nine performing arts residencies, including a storyteller, musical ensembles, and a jazz dance company.
