Turtle Island Quartet will be in residence Oct. 1-6 through this year’s Visiting Artist Series from Quad City Arts.

Winners of the 2006 and 2008 GRAMMY Awards for Best Classical Crossover category, Turtle Island is notable among string quartets for their unique focus on improvising and playing in jazz styles.

Residency activities include lectures and demonstrations for 10 schools and a performance as part of the Jackson Concert Series at Wesley United Methodist Church, Muscatine, Iowa. The quartet will also give informal performances for the public at the Moline Public Library, Moline, and the Butterworth Center, Moline. The ensemble will give a public concert 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the auditorium at Rock Island High School. See the press release below for more information.
