Sen. Chuck Grassley made the following comment on the news that the United States and China are making progress toward China’s allowing imports of U.S. beef by July 16, 2017.

“The United States is right to hold U.S. trading partners accountable and to the standards advanced economies should follow in the global economy.  These standards include following science on food safety and animal health, not shutting out a product for protectionist or political reasons.  I look forward to more progress on market access for U.S. beef and the many other commodities, goods and services out of Iowa and the rest of the country.”
