BETTENDORF, IOWA (August 29, 2019) — United Way of the Quad Cities is announcing its new Annual Community Campaign theme — Amplify Quad Cities: The Soundtrack.

This year’s campaign, held at The Rust Belt (533 12th Avenue, East Moline, Illinois 61244) on Thursday, September 5, at 4PM, will launch with an unprecedented concert event. United Way partnered with the River Music Experience to enlist local songwriters to compose original songs telling transformative stories of everyday people whose lives have been changed through Quad Citizens’ support of the United Way.

Each artist will debut their song at this event, which will also include in-depth videos and live testimonials from the people whose journeys served as the inspiration. The event will mark the beginning of United Way’s community campaign and highlight the organization’s new approach to showing the real-life impact giving and volunteering can have throughout the region.

The following are available for interviews:

  • Songwriter Mo Carter, who shares the story of Rhiannon Bell, a woman who overcame the odds of a drug addiction thanks to United Way-sponsored agency One Eighty.
  • The Candymakers, who created a song to portray the collaboration between United Way and the community that allows every Quad Citizen to have the opportunity to live their best life.
  • Rene Gellerman, president and CEO of United Way of the Quad Cities.
  • Mara Downing, campaign co-chair, vice president of global brand management and corporate communications at John Deere and president of the John Deere Foundation.
  • Mike Parejko, campaign co-chair, CEO of Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.
