(DAVENPORT, IA) Griggs Music is pleased to announce the winner of the music store’s Students in Band t-shirt design contest for the Third Biennial Competition. Music students in the Quad- City area submitted a record number of entries, impressing judges with artistic creativity and design. Congratulations to flute player, Kianna Carroll of Delwood Elementary in Delmar, Iowa who created the winning design. Kianna received a $100 gift certificate and her band director Tom Knowles received a $100 gift certificate for Delwood’s band program.
“Kianna is a creative student, says Delwood Elementary band director, Tom Knowles, “She has been a talented musician at Delwood. It is great to see her creativity playing a part in music education through Griggs Music.”
Kianna’s design will be featured on the t-shirts, event programs and other materials that will be distributed to hundreds of students when they receive an instrument this school year.
Kianna says her favorite subjects in school are music and art. She says the contest was a good way to combine the two. Kianna continues her flute playing and will start school this week at North Scott Junior High.
