CORDOVA, Ill. - It's only a month away for the 64th annual World Series of Drag Racing, presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts, on Aug. 25-27 at Cordova International Raceway and plenty of great tickets are still available.
Adult tickets are $25 for Friday, $35 for Saturday and $12 for Sunday. A three-day "Super Pass" for the entire weekend is available for $65. Tickets are $5 each day, ($15 for the weekend) for kids 6-12, while those five and under are admitted free.
Discounted adult admission tickets for Friday, Saturday and the Three Day Event Super Pass are available at participating O'Reilly Auto Parts stores with $5 off each ticket. Every ticket is a pit pass and includes free parking.
In addition, general camping is $20 for the weekend. There are no hook-ups and it's on a first-come, first serve basis.
"There is so much excitement surrounding the 64th annual World Series of Drag Racing, presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts," Cordova International Raceway President Dominic Blasco said. "The anticipation has been building with so many people looking forward to the race coming back home to Cordova and the Quad Cities region."
Started in Lawrenceville, Ill., in 1953, the World Series of Drag Racing has featured many of the world's best drag racers in a family-friendly event.
Headliners include three-time Top Fuel World Champion Larry Dixon, a 62-time NHRA national event winner, Del Worsham, one of only three men to win World Championships in Top Fuel and Funny Car, and Dom Lagana, who went over 330 mph in his Top Fuel dragster in 2013 for the fastest pass in IHRA history. Besides their entries, other racing machines on the schedule include: Nitro Funny Cars, Jet Dragsters, Fuel Altered Dragsters, Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stocks, Nostalgia Gassers, Chicagoland Super Stocks, Victory Nostalgia Super Stocks and Richard Hutchins' famed Chevy Rebellion Wheelstander.
Veteran announcer Al Tucci, known throughout the Midwest for his famous call of a "Beeeauuutiful Smoky Burnout," will serve as announcer of the World Series of Drag Racing for the first time in his three-decade plus career.
