MOLINE, IL – WQPT, Quad Cities PBS begins airing WTTW’s flagship nightly newsmagazine Chicago Tonight. Chicago Tonight celebrated 30 years on the air in April 2014.  The program will air on WQPT Monday through Friday at 1:00 and 5:30 pm.

“With the cancellation of Charlie Rose several weeks ago, we have been looking to fill that slot with something special. A program that covers our state and provides excellent production values for our viewers,” said WQPT general manager Mary Pruess. “Chicago Tonight seems to be the right fit for our audience and we are delighted to bring its content to WQPT.”

WQPT is the first station to enter into this type of partnership with WTTW for the program.

The award-winning series hosted by Phil Ponce covers stories in politics, arts, science and technology, health, business, architecture, education, history, and more. Correspondents and fill-in hosts are Eddie Arruza, Geoffrey Baer (host of the recurring “Ask Geoffrey” Chicago history and architecture segments), Brandis Friedman, Carol Marin, Paris Schutz, Jay Shefsky, and Amanda Vinicky.  Additionally, their website (wttw.com/chicagotonight) presents original reporting, extensive video, a comprehensive archive of Chicago stories and other special features.

WQPT is a media service of Western Illinois University.
