WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (September 30, 2019) — Hy-Vee Inc has temporarily suspended the sale of all over-the-counter Zantac brand and Topcare brand ranitidine products. This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution due to a recent industry-wide product alert from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that ranitidine products may contain a low level of nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a probable human carcinogen.

WASHINGTON DC (September 30, 2019) — Senators Charles "Chuck" Grassley (R-IA), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Mike Lee (R-UT) sent a letter to Inspector General of the Intelligence Community Michael Atkinson Monday to push for answers related to the intelligence community’s decision to change requirements for whistleblowers seeking to report “urgent concerns” to Congress.

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 30, 2019) — Iowa Business Council today released its Q3 2019 Economic Outlook Survey — a composite of members-expectations for sales, capital-spending, and employment for the next six months. Confidence weakened among Iowa business leaders, likely due to political and global market-uncertainty and a disruptive regulatory-climate.

Politicians are people with jobs and with bosses. On its face that seems like a relatively uncontroversial statement, but I'm always surprised at how much time people spend looking for high principle in the decisions politicians make instead of considering the mundane dynamics of political employment.
