For the past week there have been ongoing discussions between congressional leadership and the Administration relating to an agreement on budget caps and raising the debt limit. Those discussions produced an agreement that was announced Monday night.

Sens Charles "Chuck" Grassley, Richard Blumenthal Seek Briefing on ICE Solitary Confinement Policies and Challenges

In a letter today to Acting ICE Director Matthew Albence, the Senators note recent inspector general reports that highlighted deficiencies by some ICE field offices in properly reporting and documenting the use of solitary confinement.

Minnesota State Mankato Announces 2019 Spring Semester Dean's List

MANKATO, MINNESOTA (July 25, 2019) — The Academic High Honor and Honor lists (Dean's lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato have been announced by Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Marilyn Wells.  Among 3,140 students, a total of 829 students qualified for the High Honor List by achieving a 4.0 straight "A" average, while 2,311 students earned a 3.5 to 3.99 average to qualify for the Honor List.

Seventh Inning Surge Pushes Peoria Past Bandits 9-5

DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 24, 2019) — The Peoria Chiefs trailed by a pair of runs most of the night, but put up seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to shock the Quad Cities River Bandits by a 9-5 score on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Brandon Benson’s grand slam amidst the rally was the blow that gave Peoria the lead for good.

No Bail is Excessive Bail, Even for Jeffrey Epstein

Multi-millionaire Jeffrey Epstein stands accused of sex trafficking and conspiracy to traffic minors for sex. On July 18, US District Court judge Richard Berman denied bail, ordering that Epstein be confined until trial. The US Constitution's Eighth Amendment is short and sweet: "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
