DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — The Putnam is calling members of the community to discuss how “race” is perceived during the free event, Envisioning Race, Thursday, May 16, at 7PM.

The event features a screening of the documentary “What’s Race Got to Do with It?” in the Putnam’s Giant Screen Theater. The film explores issues such as underrepresentation, the limitations of multiculturalism, social equity, affirmative action, and how to make a difference.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — In response to Governor Reynolds' recent disaster declarations for five additional Iowa counties — Clinton, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, and Wapello — the Iowa Department of Revenue has granted an extension and suspension of any penalty or interest for taxpayers whose principal residence or business is located in these counties.

PEORIA, ILLINOIS (May 10, 2019) — The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Bradley University announces Spring Semester 2019 Awards for outstanding students.

Jennie White of Moline, Illinois, received the Peter Dusenbery Award for Outstanding Senior in Literary Studies & Olive B White Writing Award in Fiction this year.

White is a Senior at Bradley.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds Friday announced her appointment of Dan Huitink to serve as an appointed member of the State Judicial Nominating Commission. Huitink fills the new position on the Commission that was created by the judicial selection reform legislation signed by Gov Reynolds on Wednesday.

“I believe Dan Huitink will best represent the people of Iowa in their judicial selection process,” said Gov Reynolds.

ROME, GEORGIA (May 10, 2019) — Morgan Thomas of Muscatine, Iowa, was named to the Spring 2019 Dean's List at Berry College. The Dean's List honors students who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 9, 2019) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Iowans set a record for most new business-filings in a single month during April 2019. Sec Pate’s Business Services Division processed 2,326 filings for new businesses in April. The previous one-month record was 2,204, set in March of 2018.
