DES MOINES, IOWA (March 2, 2023) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the annual National Change of Address process to maintain the accuracy of Iowa’s voter-registration records is underway. Notices are being mailed to 90,948 registered voters in Iowa who have filed a change of address with the US Postal Service during the past twelve months.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 6, 2023) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is proposing a bill to the Iowa Legislature that streamlines the recount process for elections. The bill standardizes the recount timeline in all 99 counties, provides additional flexibility for the makeup of recount boards, and requires uniform methods for how ballots are recounted, reconciled, and reported.

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 29, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate honored longtime Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrott with the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Award this week. Parrott is retiring on December 31. He has served as Jasper County Auditor since 2005.

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 1, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announced the Iowa State Board of Canvassers officially certified the results of the 2022 general election on Thursday. Election turnout was the second highest in state history for a midterm election, with 1,230,416 voters casting ballots.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 11, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the administrative recounts he requested for Des Moines and Warren counties were completed on Thursday and Iowa’s unofficial election results have been updated. Both counties experienced issues with reporting complete results on election night.

There were approximately 2,000 uncounted ballots in Warren County and approximately 800 in Des Moines County.
