DES MOINES, IOWA (April 20, 2021) — April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Secretary of State Paul Pate is reminding Iowans that address confidentiality is available for those needing an extra layer of protection. Iowa’s Safe at Home program provides a substitute address for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, and stalking. The program is administered by the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 6, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate encourages Iowans who receive a “No Activity” mailing from his office to respond quickly. Registered voters who did not participate in the 2020 general election will soon receive the mailing to confirm their residential address. Those who do not respond will continue to be listed as inactive voters until they participate in an election or update their voter registration.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 29, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate sent a letter to US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi today asking her to respect Iowa’s bipartisan election and recount process, State of Iowa law, and the official state certification of Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ election as US House representative for Iowa’s Second Congressional District.

The date coincides with the 50th anniversary of Iowa ratifying the 26th Amendment to the US Constitution, lowering the voting age from 21 to 18.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 22, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Rivermont Collegiate School has qualified for the 2021 Carrie Chapman Catt Award by registering more than ninety-percent of eligible students to vote. The award is named after the famous Iowan who was instrumental in securing passage of the 19th Amendment, granting women access to the ballot box.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 4, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces a plan to provide grants of $10,000 to each Iowa county for election cybersecurity enhancements. The grants will build upon Iowa’s solid foundation of cyber defenses.
