DES MOINES, IOWA (August 22, 2022) — Republican candidates won all six races in Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate’s State Fair Straw Poll. Conducted on iPads at the Secretary of State’s booth inside the Varied Industries Building, the poll gauged fairgoers’ support for candidates in Iowa’s US Senate, US House, and Governor’s races. It was held throughout the State Fair, August 11-21. More than 2,600 individuals cast votes.

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 17, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is the new co-chair of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Elections Committee. Sec Pate will serve for one year overseeing the important, bipartisan committee, along with New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver. They will work together to share best practices and help every state conduct smooth, clean elections.

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 16, 2022) — US Senator Charles “Chuck” Grassley (R) and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R) have gained early leads in Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate’s State Fair Straw Poll. As of 1PM this afternoon, more than 1,400 individuals have cast votes for their preferred candidates. The votes are tabulated on iPads at the Iowa Secretary of State’s booth in the northwest corner of the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 12, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is providing a $1,000 grant to every county in the state to improve voter-access ahead of the 2022 general election. The grant is intended for counties to partner with local advocacy organizations and self-advocates to receive feedback on how polling places can be more accessible for Iowans with disabilities.

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 9, 2022) — Secretary of State Paul Pate’s annual Iowa State Fair Straw Poll is back for 2022 and will allow fairgoers to vote for their preferred candidate in the Governor, US Senate, and US House races. The poll will be conducted on iPads at the Secretary’s booth located inside the Varied Industries Building during the Iowa State Fair from August 11-21.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 28, 2022) Saturday, July 30, is World Day Against Human Trafficking and Secretary of State Paul Pate is working with the Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Iowa Department of Transportation to raise awareness about the issue. Their combined goal is to make Iowa a trafficking-free state.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 21, 2022) — Hy-Vee has announced it has joined a statewide coalition to end human trafficking in Iowa. The Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (IBAT) initiative is spearheaded by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate. Hy-Vee and Sec Pate’s office are working together to raise awareness about this form of modern-day slavery and finding ways to prevent human trafficking.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 20, 2022) — Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Iowans registered the highest number of new business entities in state history during the 2022 fiscal year. 33,331 new businesses registered with the Secretary of State’s Office between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022. The mark breaks the previous record of 33,260 set last year.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 30, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the cost of fees for businesses filing with his office will be reduced, beginning July 1. Uniform Commercial Code filings will be cut in half and Biennial Report fees for most entities will be reduced by $15.
