Item of Interest: Flood Update, 03/14/19

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 14, 2019) — The current river level is 12.65 feet and expected to crest at 18.1 feet on Sunday, March 17, which is an approximately six-foot rise in less than three days. The river will fall slightly after cresting; however, it will remain on the high side before rising again in another week or two according to current National Weather Service estimates.

FDA Allows Marketing of New Device to Help Treat Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

WASHINGTON DC (March 14, 2019) — The US Food and Drug Administration [FDA] today allowed marketing of a new device, ClearMate, intended to be used in an emergency-room setting to help treat patients suffering from carbon-monoxide poisoning. The device uses a novel method for quickly removing carbon monoxide from the body by increasing a patient’s rate of breathing.

The Chorale will present its "home concert" at 7:30PM. March 15 in the College's Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. The highly selective, 33-member Chorale maintains an active and demanding rehearsal and performance schedule.

Gov Kim Reynolds Signs Ag-Trespass Legislation into Law

DES MOINES — Today, Governor Kim Kim Reynolds signed S.F. 519 into law following a bipartisan vote by both the Iowa House of Representatives and the Iowa State Senate earlier this week. She was joined by lawmakers, farmers, and leaders of the ag industry.

Gov Kim Reynolds Issues Disaster Proclamation

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 14, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds issued a disaster-proclamation today for the State of Iowa in response to flooding and severe-weather beginning March 13 and continuing. Earlier today, she activated Iowa's State Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the response to Iowa's flooding.
