DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 18, 2019) — Please note that Public Works will not issue another flood update until Thursday, March 21 unless significant changes in river level or other travel issues require an additional update.

The National Weather Service has emphasized river-levels could fluctuate and are likely continue to do so in the coming weeks.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 14, 2019) — The current river level is 12.65 feet and expected to crest at 18.1 feet on Sunday, March 17, which is an approximately six-foot rise in less than three days. The river will fall slightly after cresting; however, it will remain on the high side before rising again in another week or two according to current National Weather Service estimates.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 14, 2019) — Davenport Public Works has provided details regarding two situations that will impact travel. E Locust is reduced to one lane in each direction between Tremont and Locust streets due to a manhole collapse. Repairs are anticipated to be complete by or before Friday, March 29. W 6th Street is closed between Telegraph and Howell streets for repairs to a 60-inch storm sewer line. The time to repair and re-open the road is unknown at this time.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 13, 2019) — Davenport will be holding a media briefing to discuss predicted river levels and the city’s flood preparations. The briefing will be held on Friday, March 15, at 10AM, at the Davenport Public Works Center, 1200 E 46th St.

Staff will begin the briefing promptly at 10AM. A mult box will be available.

An opportunity to ask questions will be provided following the briefing.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 11, 2019) — Davenport Fire crews were busy Monday afternoon at a house fire in northwest Davenport. District Chief Mike Ryan says shortly after 1:30PM fire crews received a call for a report of house with smoke coming from the roof in the 2100 block of W 68th St. First arriving fire crews found smoke coming from the eaves and attic vents. A hose line was advanced into the building and the small fire was extinguished in a rear bedroom. Two dogs that were kenneled inside

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 22, 2019) Public Works participated in this afternoon’s National Weather Service Spring Flood Outlook Briefing. There is a 95% chance the city will see moderate flooding (15 to 18ft), and a 50% chance for major flooding (above 18 ft) this spring.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 22, 2019) — Mayor Klipsch will deliver the Davenport State of the City Address on Monday, February 25, at the Rhythm City Casino; 7077 Elmore Avenue. The program begins at Noon. There will be an elevated area and mult box in place for the media at this event.
