COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (August 9, 2024) — On Friday, September 13, the Zoo will host our biggest fundraiser of the year, Pints for Preservation. This year, the proceeds will go toward finishing the cat habitats that were destroyed during the CAT-astrophe from the storms earlier in 2024. The large cat exhibits will be completed in late 2024 and the Pallas' Cat (featured in the image above) will be constructed in 2025.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (August 8, 2024)  One month into her Monmouth College presidency, Dr Patricia Draves said that she and her husband, Jeff, are enjoying their "second homecoming" in the Maple City.

Draves, who began her tenure as the college's fifteenth president in July, made her remarks at Monday's Rotary Club meeting at the Monmouth Country Club.

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 8, 2024) — A nine-mile trail extension will open on August 17 linking the High Trestle and Raccoon River Valley trails, forming a nearly-continuous 120-mile paved loop. Iowa Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Luke Hoffman has been selected by the Racoon River Valley Trail Association to lead a bike ride at 11AM on August 17, starting at the Racoon River Valley Trailhead in Perry to mark the occasion. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will follow at 1PM.
