First Special Olympics was held July 20, 1968, at Soldier Field in Chicago

CARBONDALE (Apr. 6, 2018) — Gov. Bruce Rauner today joined athletes and volunteers for the Special Olympics Illinois 50th Anniversary Kickoff celebrations at the Touch of Nature Environmental Center in Carbondale.

DAVENPORT – St. Ambrose University will host scholars from across the world in an academic exploration of its namesake saint, Saint Ambrose of Milan, beginning this afternoon, Friday April 6, and concluding on Sunday, April 8.

More than 40 scholars from all over the world will present research and dialogue during the three-day conference, “St. Ambrose of Milan: (Re-)Constructing Community.”

Four events are free and open to the public and the media.

Cindy Cavanagh and Teresa Wyant from Mississippi Bend AEA have been selected for the Innovative Creator Award by Iowa’s Area Education Agencies. The team received the award during a presentation at the AEA Boards of Directors’ Conference on April 5. This is the second year for the awards and it is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate outstanding candidates for their contributions to education and the AEA system.

WASHINGTON – In a joint letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security, Senate and House Judiciary Committee chairmen Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and former Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) urged the swift implementation of regulations that would drastically curtail the amount of fraud and abuse that has become common in the EB-5 regional center program.

 

 

Davenport, IA —  Shane Carrier’s sacrifice fly in the first inning and solo home run in the fourth was enough to carry the Cedar Rapids Kernels to a 2-0 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits in the opening game of the season for both teams on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park.
