ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (July 3, 2024) — Eighty-one Augustana College students were recognized at the Office of Career Development and Vocation's annual Viking Score Banquet on May 8.

Viking Score points are awarded to students as they complete career-readiness tasks including career exploration exercises, reflections with Career Coaches or skill-building experiences. Students who scored 100 points or more during their time at Augustana were invited to attend.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 3, 2024) — The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today awarded a total of more than $10.6 million in federal housing tax credits to support the construction and rehabilitation of a total of 404 affordable rental homes for Iowans. The awards were made to ten rental housing projects located in Burlington, Charles City, Davenport, Des Moines, Jefferson, Knoxville, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, and Spirit Lake.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (July 3, 2024) — Red, White, and Boom! has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 7, 2024. The event and fireworks display will be held in downtown Davenport and Rock Island with fireworks at dusk. That evening, there will be family-friendly activities in LeClaire Park in Davenport and Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island. The Quad Cities River Bandits game will be held that night at Modern Woodmen Park.

FAYETTE, IOWA (July 3, 2024) — Upper Iowa University (UIU) has announced it has earned the 2024-2025 Military Friendly School designation.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2024-2025 survey with 537 earning special awards for going above the standard.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (July 2, 2024) — Nabila Saam, a Psychology, International Business-Management major from Moline, IL, (61265) is one of more than fifteen Augustana College students recently elected to serve as Student Government Association (SGA) senators. Saam was elected Sophomore Class Senator for the 2024-2025 academic year.
