Davenport, Iowa; January 15th, 2018 – TEDxDavenport will take place on March 7th, 2018 at the Figge Art Museum in the John Deere Auditorium from 12:00-5:00pm. The independently organized event, licensed by TED, will feature local voices and TED Talks videos under the theme of LIMITLESS.  

Silent March to Remember

When: Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1-2 p.m.

Where: The silent march will begin at the lower entrance to Cosgrove Hall, located next to Ambrose Hall off of West Locust Street. Ambrosians will march four blocks to civil rights marker at the corner of 11th and Ripley Streets in Davenport, near the site of the former Toney’s Barber and Beauty Shop.

Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities will come together to run for the gold at the 2018 CASI St. Patrick’s Day Race on Saturday, March 17, 2018 to benefit the Center for Active Seniors, or CASI, as it is known to so many.

In its 36th year, CASI’s St. Patrick’s Day Race is THE major fundraiser for CASI last year raising nearly $80,000 for vital senior services including the senior emergency food pantry, fans for seniors and Jane’s Place Adult Day Services Program.

On January 11, 2018, participants from 20 organizations and the public took part in a discussion on the current state and future of the Hennepin Canal. Issues regarding maintenance of the century old canal and towpaths were discussed among state legislators, nonprofit organizations, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and local city and county officials.

RUG WEAVING CLASS: Come experience the joy of weaving your very own colorful rag rug on a loom. The class includes designing and preparing materials, weaving and finishing. The rug could be useful in your home or it might make a great gift. This activity will be held in the weaving studio located at the Amana Arts Guild Center in High Amana on Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:30 beginning January 25th  and continue for 5 sessions. Enrollment is limited.

The work being performed is the first phase of the Duck Creek South Interceptor Rehabilitation Project and includes cleaning and inspecting the sewer main located along the south side of Duck Creek. The contractor will be using the bike path for access, but the path should remain open for use during this phase.

Quad Cities residents with a household income of $57,000 or less are eligible for free tax preparation services offered through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program of United Way of the Quad Cities Area at 14 different sites. IRS-certified trained volunteers will prepare taxes at no cost.

January 8, 2018 - The Lee McAllister Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by his family. This scholarship honors his desire to help young people pursue education and become productive members of their community.
