SPRINGFIELD (Dec. 13, 2017) — Gov. Bruce Rauner issued the following statement regarding the Quincy Veterans' Home:

“My administration is deeply concerned about the veterans at the Quincy Veterans' Home. We are committed to ensuring the residents get the care and treatment they deserve in a safe living environment.

Des Moines, IA - With the latest version of their tax plan, Republicans yet again put millionaires, billionaires, and giant corporations over American families. The final Republican tax bill provides even bigger tax breaks to the very wealthiest, at the expense of children and the middle-class in Iowa.   

Data-driven, cross-agency approach yields win-win for patients, taxpayer

CHICAGO (Dec. 13, 2017) — Gov. Bruce Rauner’s Health Care Fraud Elimination Task Force reported that the State has saved, prevented or recovered approximately $450 million in fraudulent or wasteful Medicaid spending in fiscal years 2016 and 2017. 

The Quad Cities Comic Book Convention will be held on Saturday December 30 at the Ramada Inn in Bettendorf, IA. The Ramada Inn is located at 3020 Utica Rd (I-74 @ Kimberly Rd / Spruce Hills Dr, IA Exit 2). It will be open to the public from 10 AM to 4 PM and admission for the public is free. Dealers from four states specializing in comic books new and old, toys and related collectibles. Good place to come and spend your Xmas money!

DAVENPORT, Iowa, December 15, 2017 – MCCQC invites the community to attend a Trivia Night on Saturday, January 20th, filled with fun, facts and laughter! The doors will open at 6:00pm and trivia will begin at 7:00pm. The cost is $10.00 per person for tables of 8. Form a team or join a team; no one will be turned away. There will be Mulligans and Doublers to purchase. Plan to bring treats to share. The church will have beverages and snacks available for purchase.

Initially the hours of operation will be 7am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday, 7am to 7pm Friday and Saturday, and noon to 7pm on Sunday.

Southbound Eastern Ave between Pleasant and Locust will be closed for installation of a new power pole beginning Thursday, December 21st. Work should be complete on Saturday, December 23rd. A detour will be posted for southbound traffic.

Grimes, IA – The annual Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) Unified Sports Day at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon will be held Saturday, December 16. SOIA athletes from Cedar Rapids, Clinton, Dubuque, Mt. Vernon, the Quad Cities, Vinton and the surrounding area are expected to attend. They will partner with Cornell College students for a day of unified activities. 
 

Dec. 15, 2017 (Dubuque, IA) - Iowa experienced 62% solar jobs growth in 2016 according to the the most recent National Solar Jobs Census conducted by the The Solar Foundation. Growth is expected to continue in the region, and to meet the need for trained and qualified solar workers, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) will be hosting a Solar Training Academy in Dubuque starting in January 2018.

City of Davenport will observe Christmas Eve & Christmas Day as holidays on Monday, December 25th and Tuesday, December 26th. All City of Davenport offices & the Public Works Center will be closed. Police Department front desk and records office will be closed. Library Main, Fairmount and Eastern branches will be closed. River’s Edge facility will be closed on Sunday, December 24th & Monday, December 25th and open normal business hours (7a-7p) on Tuesday, December 26th.
