Broad-spectrum antibiotics used to treat bacteria decline by five percent

For years, no one seemed to know exactly where the original blueprints of the historic Hauberg mansion in Rock Island, IL were being stored. DES MOINES, Iowa, Sept. 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Smithfield Foods’ Helping Hungry Homes® initiative, a program focused on alleviating hunger and helping Americans become more food secure, joined forces with Hy-Vee Inc. to donate nearly 40,000 pounds of protein to the Food Bank of Iowa. The donation, equivalent to nearly 160,000 servings, will help those fighting hunger across Des Moines and surrounding communities, where one in 175,000 Iowans are food insecure.

 The Greater QUAD CITIES RENAISSANCE FAIRE is being revived for a return to the QC metro area. It will take place at the Illiniwek Forest Preserve campgrounds, just north of Hampton, IL., on October 7th & 8th from 11am to 6pm.

The City of Rock Island’s Public Works Department will begin the Fire Hydrant Flushing Program on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 7:00 a.m. Crews will be flushing hydrants for approximately a four week period. The purpose of this program is to help maintain water quality standards and the fire protection system. Citizens may experience brief periods of discolored water or low pressure which is normal during flushing operations.
