City Circle Acting Company of Coralville will hold auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on September 29 and 30. Auditions for the children’s choir (2nd through 6th grade) will be Friday, September 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Auditions for everyone else will be Saturday, September 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

(DES MOINES) – In cooperation with Gov. Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, 19 Soldiers, two CH-47F Chinook helicopters, and two LUH-72 Lakota helicopters from the Iowa Army National Guard will deploy on Sept. 11 to support response operations for Hurricane Irma.

COAL VALLEY, Ill. (Sept 11, 2017) –  Beginning on Monday, Sept. 11, Niabi Zoo’s current Monday-Sunday schedule will change to its fall hours. From Sept. 11 to Oct. 29 Niabi will be closed on Mondays and closed one hour earlier Tuesday-Sunday. 

Niabi Fall Hours:

                Monday: CLOSED

                Tuesday-Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

University of Illinois Extension's Mercer County Master Gardeners have organized a fall seminar featuring experts teaching on these topics: 
  •   Great Roses Suited to Our Zone by Sue Ruxton, University of Illinois Extension Rock Island County Master Gardener,
Kristin Bogdonas, nutrition educator for University of Illinois Extension, will go over the basics of canning including equipment, safe processing methods, and sources for reliable recipes. You'll also get practice canning with a red raspberry jam recipe. Light refreshments will be served upon arrival and there will be resources for everyone to take home.
The cost of this workshop is free but you must be registered in advance.

Come learn all about using a slow cooker, receive delicious recipes, food safety tips, and taste test some easy slow cooker dishes you can make at home! The workshop will be led by Kristin Bogdonas, University of Illinois Extension nutrition and wellness educator.

It is sponsored by the Rock Island County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE). The cost is $5 for public or $3 for HCE members. It will be held at the Port Byron Library from 1 - 2 pm.
