University of Illinois Extension's Mercer County Master Gardeners have organized a fall seminar featuring experts teaching on these topics: 
  •   Great Roses Suited to Our Zone by Sue Ruxton, University of Illinois Extension Rock Island County Master Gardener,
    Sue is accomplished rose grower, who at one time had over 139 varieties in her gardens. She will show great photos and give the participants an outline of steps to growing good, healthy roses. She will include her favorite heirlooms, as well as Hybrid Teas, Knockouts, English Roses, and Buck Roses.  
  •  Waterfowls and Migrating Bids on the Upper Mississippi by Brian Ritter Executive Director of Nahant Marsh Brian's presentation will focus on identification and life history of common waterfowl and other migratory birds in our area. We will also discuss migration and the importance of habitat for migrating birds. Cost is $10 in advance, $12 at the door, includes coffee and pastries. Register here
