Secretary Perdue to Visit Mississippi Valley Fair on August 6th.

On Sunday, August 6, 2017, as part of his “Back to Our Roots” RV Tour, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue will make a stop at the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., Secretary Perdue will tour the Iowa building, which showcases agriculture-related STEM education, and participate in a farm safety demonstration.  Open to the press. Gov. Rauner issues amendatory veto to ensure school funding bill is fair, equitable for all students

SPRINGFIELD (August 1, 2017) – Today, Gov. Bruce Rauner issued an amendatory veto to Senate Bill 1, the school funding bill. The matter now heads to the Illinois General Assembly, where the governor has respectfully requested that lawmakers uphold his changes. If these changes are upheld, Illinois will achieve historic education funding reform.

(Washington, D.C., August 1, 2017) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today made two key appointments to help fulfill the vital mission of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to ensure the safety of the nation’s food supply. Perdue announced that Carmen Rottenberg was selected as Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Food Safety and Paul Kiecker was named Acting Administrator for the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
