American drivers are unprepared for emergency breakdown situations

    Davenport Public Library Offers “Stories in the Park” at Vander Veer Botanical Park

    Beginning Tuesday June 6th, the Davenport Library will be offering “Stories in the Park” at the Vander Veer Botanical Park (215 W Central Park). The story times will be held every Tuesday at 11am (except for July 4th) through July. Join us near the pond (in case of rain we’ll meet in the conservatory). Bring some snacks, a blanket and sit back and take a break with your favorite summertime stories!

    A new Iowa law goes into effect July 1, 2017, requiring motorists to slow down, safely change lanes if possible and operate with caution around waste and recycling trucks with safety lights flashing. The law echoes cautions already in place for motorists passing a stopped public safety vehicle, and drivers could be cited by law enforcement for violating the new law.

    Like their last live performance on the top of Apple Studios, the Putnam will host a tribute Beatles rooftop concert with a RME band! Please bring your own lawn chairs... seating will be in Putnam parking lot. Local food trucks and beer will be on site for the event.

    BOWLING GREEN, Ken. -- Six runs over the first three innings buried the Quad Cities River Bandits in a 10-2 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods on a warm, humid Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark. Cionel Perez could not get through the second inning, allowing six runs on seven hits, to suffer his second loss of the season. Randy Cesar had a pair of hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games and Spencer Johnson had two hits and the lone RBI for the Quad Cities offense in the game.

    (DES MOINES) – Today, Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds announced two appointments to the Iowa Board of Medicine.  These appointments are effective today, are unpaid and are subject to Iowa Senate confirmation.

    Ms. Teresa Garman of Ames, IA previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1987 to 2002, where she served as Chairwoman of the Justice Appropriations Committee.  She replaces Diane Clarke of Lake Mills, IA.
