MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (November 20, 2023) — A Monmouth College student from East Moline, Illinois, recently presented her psychology research at a regional conference. Hannah Rossmiller ('24) of East Moline presented "The Effects of True Crime on State and Trait Anxiety" at the 32nd annual Tri-State Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference, held November 11 at Rockford University.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 17, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced her appointment of Ashley Sparks as a district judge in Judicial Election District 2B.

Sparks, of Bondurant, Iowa, is the Owner of Sparks Law PLLC and is a Boone County Magistrate. She received an undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University, a Master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and her law degree from Drake University Law School.

Monmouth-Roseville High School sophomore Drew Carlson has the leading role in Monmouth College's production of Peter Pan November 16-19, but it was only last weekend when Carlson was Juror N° 3 in Twelve Angry Jurors, an adaptation of the 1954 teleplay Twelve Angry Men, which was staged at MRHS.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (November 17, 2023) — More than forty Augustana College students will serve on the college's Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2023-2024 academic year.

SGA representatives have been elected to serve as the liaison between the student body and the faculty, staff, and administration of the college. SGA's mission is to voice the needs and opinions of the student body in an effort to grow Augustana's academic, cultural, and social life.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 17, 2023) — Iowa’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased to 3.2 percent in October, up from 3.1 percent a year ago. The state’s labor-force participation rate decreased from 68.6 percent to 68.4 percent but remains 0.3 percent higher than one year ago. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate rose to 3.9 percent in October, and the national labor-force participation rate fell to 62.7 percent.
