ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (November 17, 2023) — More than forty Augustana College students will serve on the college's Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2023-2024 academic year.

SGA representatives have been elected to serve as the liaison between the student body and the faculty, staff, and administration of the college. SGA's mission is to voice the needs and opinions of the student body in an effort to grow Augustana's academic, cultural, and social life.

Augustana Vice President Amen Bekele

The 2023-2024 SGA senate includes:

Nabila Saam, an Augie Ages major from Moline, will serve as Commuter Senator

Augustana President Rachel Nandelenga

According to the SGA website, the organization focuses on "making a positive and thoughtful difference in the Augie community by working to resolve issues faced by the student body."

Augustana Treasurer Ian Bischoff

Students work in committees to develop changes in college policies, promote student-led initiatives, create awareness campaigns, and coordinate campus events.

Augustana First Year Senator Niccolo Benvenuto

SGA is also responsible for funding all student groups and organizations that are recognized by the Augustana College's Student Policies Committee. Any recognized student group can request a budget or contingency from SGA. Please see the attached links for more information.

Augustana Junior Senator Kelly Moore

Augustana College is a vibrant, welcoming liberal arts college located on a 115-acre campus in the Quad Cities (pop 400,000) along the Mississippi River. Augustana, a residential campus, has 100 majors and programs, 160 student organizations, and 28 varsity athletic teams.

The college enrolls 2,500 students in a metro area that provides access to many career-paths and hands-on learning opportunities, including internships, jobs, student teaching, and research sites.
