DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 18, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) Associate is pleased to announce the appointment of Benjamin Firer as Interim QCSYE Music Director. An award-winning conductor, Firer is the assistant conductor with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Director at Northeastern Illinois University. He received his Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree from Yale University.

CLIVE, IOWA (July 17, 2023) — More than $20,000 worth of ground pork will be provided to Iowa food banks and pantries because of the inaugural BBQ and Brew at the Ballpark, held last Saturday, July 15, at Principal Park in Des Moines. The Iowa Pork Producers Association partnered with the Iowa Cubs and non-profit organization Cactus Cares for the event.

CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA (July 17, 2023) — More than 2,400 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2023 semester, including Avery Dominique, from Milan, IL (61264).
