MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (April 18, 2023) On the eve of its Scholars Day celebration, Monmouth College will host a guest speaker who explores places in the ocean few people have ever seen.

Deep-sea submersible pilot Erika Bergman will speak at 7PM, April 24, in the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. The College's biology and chemistry departments are sponsoring the pre-Scholars Day talk, which is free and open to the public.

Gapen, a 1991 Augustana graduate, was selected at the March BOT meeting to succeed retiring chair John Murabito ('80). His term will begin in October.

FAYETTE, IOWA (April 18, 2023) — An Upper Iowa University alumna from North Palm Beach, Florida, will deliver the keynote address during the University's 2023 commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 6. Sue Crafton Regan ('67) graduated with majors in physical education and psychology.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (April 17, 2023) — On Thursday, April 20, Augustana College will conduct a full-scale emergency-preparedness drill. The drill will start by 8:30AM and be completed by 12PM.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 17, 2023) — Disability Rights Iowa will host an in-person panel presentation in Iowa City on Assistance Animals for Mental Health. In person satellite viewings of this panel conversation will take place in Des Moines, Ottumwa, Cedar Rapids and Chariton. The panel conversation consists of six individuals who collectively have legal expertise, mental health expertise, and lived experience. The panel will also be moderated by a legal expert.

GENESEO, ILLINOIS (April 17, 2023) — The 2023 Geneseo Artwalk will take place Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Downtown Geneseo, Illinois. In addition to the 2023 Artwalk, the second mural of the Geneseo Mural Project will begin to come to life during the event as well. Geneseo will be full of art during the last weekend of April.

COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (April 17, 2023) — This event will feature entertainment by renowned show band Maggie Speaks.

Guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening of music, while also contributing to the vital work of the zoo. The concert will feature special appearances by Niabi Zoo staff and the Foundation Board, to provide an up-close look at the organization's new master plan.

The gift is from the Turnbull-Zaleski family, which includes 2007 alumna Sarah Zaleski Degarmo and her parents, Jane Turnbull-Zaleski and Steve Zaleski of Geneseo, Illinois.
