STONINGTON, CONNECTICUT (September 23, 2021) The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the Coast Guard community and service by supporting members and families, announced today that it has awarded 158 scholarships in 2021 totaling $345,500 in support. In the 31 years of the program, the Coast Guard Foundation has paid out more than $6 million to over 1,400 college-aged young adults.

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 22, 2021) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced her appointment of Valerie Clay as a district court judge in Judicial District 6.

Clay, of Marion, Iowa, currently serves as an assistant county attorney in the Juvenile Division of the Linn County Attorney’s Office. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.

EAST MOLINE, ILLINOIS (September 22, 2021) — East Moline Correctional Center is offering its first four-year Bachelor of Arts program for individuals in custody in more than twenty years. The Augustana Prison Education Partnership (APEP) launched August 31 with a cohort of 10 students.

DES MOINES, IOWA (September 22, 2021) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is helping Iowans register to vote. His office is mailing a postcard to approximately 50,000 Iowans who are eligible to vote, but not registered. The postcard includes instructions on how to register and a QR code the recipient can use to register to vote online.
