DES MOINES, IOWA (March 20, 2020) — The Iowa Restaurant Association has been working with the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Iowa Department of Revenue. Because of pressing deadlines, they have given us permission to share the following information with members of Iowa’s hospitality industry. 

They are creating a financial relief grant program for hospitality operators. The plan is to have the application online on Monday.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 20, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of one additional positive case of Iowans with COVID-10, for a total of 45 positive cases. 765 negative tests have been conducted at the State Hygienic Lab.

WASHINGTON DC (March 20, 2020) — Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced the appointment of David Wu to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Mr Wu will be assuming the role following the departure of Deputy Assistant Secretary Don Bice.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 20, 2020) — The Quad City Storm is excited to announce Storm head coach Dave Pszenczny has been signed to a two-year contract extension. In an abbreviated second season with the Storm, Pszenyczny increased the team’s winning percentage significantly and navigated the Storm in to one of eight playoff positions at year’s end.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 20, 2020) — Governor Kim Reynolds issued an additional State Public Health Emergency Declaration effective immediately providing additional regulatory relief to Iowans impacted by this public health disaster. She will hold a press conference at 2PM; details on that are forthcoming.

The declaration relaxes a number of restrictions and regulations and provides relief from other statutes and state regulations:

WASHINGTON DC (March 20, 2020) — Deputy Under Secretary Bette Brand announced today that USDA Rural Development is implementing enterprise-wide remote operational status effective immediately. Rural Development leadership and managers will continue to provide excellent customer service while following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) direction for social distancing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
