Best flower shop - Hy-Vee Food Stores
Price, variety, freshness, and service are the keys to Hy-Vee's success in the floral business. Paula Evans, self-proclaimed "most experienced designer" at the Utica Ridge Road and 53rd Street store in Davenport, says Hy-Vee's popularity is due, in part, to its wide variety of styles - anywhere from traditional to contemporary.
"Our arrangements are reasonably priced," added Evans, "and we keep our flowers very fresh. If anything looks iffy, out it goes. We have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff." Evans herself has a college degree in floral culture.
Additionally, Hy-Vee staff will do everything possible to meet customer expectations - from designing arrangements for specific events to finding an out-of-season flower. "If a customer wants something, we do our best to get it," Evans said. "We call around to vendors 'til we find what they're looking for."
For Valentine's Day, Hy-Vee will have in-house displays ranging in price from $17.50 to $35. "In our location we have people on fixed budgets and others who are willing to spend any amount," Evans said. "We'll have Valentine arrangements from $250 to $300."
