John Knaack and John Knaack Jr.

Silvis, IL – Amid the onslaught of COVID - 19, a local family will be hosting an elderly loved one’s birthday party in unique fashion. Family, friends and fellow citizens will celebrate John Knaack’s 95th birthday social distancing style with a vehicular parade led in his honor by the Silvis Fire Department. Knaack will be hailed on Saturday, March 28th with song, signs and sharing waves from cars of birthday-wishers from the front door of his home at New Perspective – Silvis senior living community.

The procession will begin promptly at 1 p.m., starting with a parade lineup up in the south parking lot of the community, located at 1900 10th St, Silvis, IL 61282. All participants are asked to remain in their cars and present no cards or gifts. A native of Moline, Illinois, Knaack is a U.S. Navy veteran, former owner of Quad Cities-based Contract Roofing and the father of three.
