• Mayor Stan Leach and City Council members Pat O'Brien (2nd Ward), Richard Potter (4th Ward), Michael Crotty (6th Ward), and Donald Welvaert (At-Large) were scheduled to be sworn in at Tuesday's city-council meeting. They were elected on April 3.
• The city council was also scheduled to consider a bill through which the city would take over billing patients for medications used by during ambulance transport. Hospitals currently bill patients as part of their hospital bills, but the city would put the medications on its ambulance bill instead.
• The city is currently planning a Leadership and Strategic Goal-Setting Workshop for the mayor and the city council, to be conducted by Lyle Sumek Associates.

• At a study session April 23, the Rock Island City Council discussed an impact agreement for the planned Aquatic Center and the staffing and hours of the police department's front desk.

• Both rezonings for THF Realty's proposed Super Wal-Mart development are getting third considerations (rezonings require three considerations before passing) even though only a small portion of the information requested by council has been submitted by THF, let alone reviewed by council. They are willing to proceed regardless.
• Up for second consideration is THF's requests for two Self-Supported Municipal Improvement Districts (SSMIDs) for the same Super Wal-Mart development. Those items will be up for final consideration on May 16, and THF has said it will not move forward with the project unless the SSMIDs are approved. If the rezonings are passed and the SSMID ordinances fail, the city council will likely reconsider the zoning ordinances.
