Des Moines, IA - Metro Arts Alliance announced today that the following bands and sites have been selected for the 34th year of Jazz in July. For more than three decades, Metro Arts Alliance has made a deep impact in our communities with their contribution to live music. Jazz in July is Iowa's longest-running summer music festival that evolves every year by responding to the community's needs and requests, while keeping its greatest traditions. Each year, music groups from across Iowa apply to be part of the series. Locations across the greater Des Moines community also apply to host concerts "LIVE from Your Neighborhood."

7/7 - Tanner Taylor Trio at Principal Park/Iowa Cubs, Des Moines + new band * new site
7/8 - The Jazz Page at the Bondurant Trailhead, Bondurant
7/9 - Jeff Miguel Quartet at Evelyn K. Davis Park, Des Moines + new band
7/10 -Blake Shaw Quintet at City Park, Norwalk + new band
7/14 - John Morgan Orchestra at Wesley Acres, Des Moines
7/15 - Parranderos Latin Combo at La Placita on East Grand and E. 15th, Des Moines
7/16 - Rose Colella 'Cocktail' at Waveland Golf Course, Des Moines + new band
7/17 - Freddy Gazzo Band at Des Moines Public Library - Central, Des Moines * new site
7/21 - Christopher's Very Happy.Band. at DMACC West Campus, West Des Moines * new site
7/22 - Bryan Shumacker Quartet at Jester Park, Granger + new band   * new site
7/23 - The Tighten Up at 6th Avenue and Washington, Des Moines
7/24 - Damani Phillips with Strings at Johnston Commons, Johnston + new band
7/28 - Tina Haase Findlay with the Alex Murphy Jazz Trio of Chicago at Copper Creek Lake Park, Pleasant Hill + new band
7/29 - High Society Big Band at Grand View University, Des Moines * new site
7/30 - Finale: Whitney Marchelle + new band; The Nola Jazz Band at Valley Junction, West Des Moines * new site
The selected list combines respected previous performers with many new groups to Jazz in July, allowing music lovers to explore new sounds. "Each concert features the flavor of their hosting neighborhood. Sites do an excellent job of lining up food, drink, and kids activities," said Carla Thomas, Metro Arts Alliance's Education and Events Coordinator. "It's a wonderful way for families to expose their children to live music, for friends to meet with a picnic, and the perfect end to a summer day. We are very pleased to celebrate the rich talent in our state and bring great jazz bands "live" in your neighborhood."
